We're open
When phoning for test results, please do this between 2pm and 5pm.
When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please bear this in mind and only call the surgery after sufficient time has elapsed.
Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.
For information on what your laboratory test results mean please visit Lab Tests Online UK
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them. If you wish to give permission for another person to call for your results, please ask at reception for a consent form or complete the attached form and hand it in.
Some parents have queried why they cannot be given test results for younger teenagers. This is because we follow the guidance in the General Medical Council (GMC) document ‘0-18 Years: Guidance for all Doctors’. This states that in Scotland anyone over the age of 12 years is presumed to have the capacity to make decisions about who can access their medical records.
If the young person would like a parent to be given the results, then this is simply arranged by completing a consent form which we can include in their notes.
